The Cow is a 1969 Iranian drama film directed by Dariush Mehrjui. Masht Hassan (Ezzatolah Entezami) an old villager who owns this cow by taking care of it so much like his own son he find out when he returns the cow had died. It is one of the major classics of it s country and for many good reasons. The film is about a man’s relationship with a cow. After the cow gets killed the villagers hastily dispose the corpse, and when Masht Hassan comes back, they tell him that his cow ran away. That is when Masht Hassan starts to spend all his time in the barn, eating hay, and slowly believes that he is the cow. He is devastated by the news.
