Although Dev Patel grew up in London, he has a striking connection with the city of Mumbai ever since his role in Slumdog Millionaire. This was Patel’s debut film, and shot in the mega-city on India west coast when he was 17 that was an unexpected global hit. That is what launched Patel (Lion, and The Newsroom) to worldwide fame.
Arjun character displayed extraordinary heroism and selflessness. This film is centered in the Taj Mahal hotel because it’s a microcosm of India. It is interesting the storytelling of the break down of culture barriers, and educating that at the end of the day everyone is equal.
