In 1951 during the Korean War Marcus Messner (Logan Lerman), a working-class Jewish student from New Jersey attends a small Ohio College that struggles with the administration, also struggles with Anti-Semitism, and his community at home because he has questions in his mind about life and religion. I’m questioning — I question things and I have no answers. Than something happens when he meets Olivia Hutton (Sarah Gadon), and everything changes. This is the first Directorial debut of James Schamus as he premiered at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival. I like this story because it has moments of humor and being somber.
