The Last Face Movie Review
Atomic Blonde is an undercover MI6 agent who is sent to Berlin during the Cold War to investigate the murder of a fellow agent and recover a missing list of double agents. Agent Lorraine Broughton (Theron) is equal parts spycraft, sensuality and savagery. She is willing to deploy any of her skills to stay alive on her impossible mission. Sent alone into Berlin to deliver a priceless dossier out of the destabilized city, she partners with embedded station chief David Percival (James McAvoy) to navigate her way through the deadliest game of spies.
She is a gifted actress as is McAvoy, but neither can save this mess of a plot.
On the bright side, the cinematography was top rate, the action sequences very believable and the 80’s soundtrack along with neon drenched atmosphere certainly make the viewer feel they’ve slipped back a few decades into the late 80’s in East/West Berlin.
They paint Percival as a traitor, and denies knowing the List’s current whereabouts, forcing the agency to close the case. Three days later, she meets with Bremovych in Paris, revealing herself to be Satchel. Lorraine gives him a fake List, but Bremovych admits he knows she set him up. Lorriane kills his henchmen, and before killing him reveals she was manipulating events from the very beginning. She then meets with Kurzfeld, revealing herself to be an American triple agent planted by the CIA, before returning with him to Langley.
Focus Features presents Kubo which is Now Playing at Pleasant Hill, California. KUBO AND THE TWO STRINGS is going to be one of the best animated films of the year from Jonathan Winchell. This movie is so heartwarming and I knew I would love this movie because of the role between son and mother. The mother stares off into space with a haunted, sad look as the son tries his best to care for her, all without words, a perfect moment that I’d never expect to see. It is set in Japan where a one-eyed kid Kubo (Art Parkinson) who masters the art of origami and storytelling and works to earn his money during the day by entertaining audiences in the middle of a market but he comes home right before sundown to tend to his sick mother. The two evil twins (Rooney Mara) would try to get Kubo’s other eye but he runs fast to join forces with Monkey (Charlize Theron) and a beetle (Matthew McConaughey) on a quest to retrieve the helmet, the sword, and the armor that would prepare Kubo to fight the vengeful Moon King (Ralph Fiennes). This quest would unlock Kubo’s family mystery and lead him to fulfill his destiny.
Eric (Chris Hemsworth) and fellow warrior Sara (Jessica Chastain), raised as members of ice Queen Freya’s (Emily Blunt) army, try to conceal their forbidden love as they fight to survive the wicked intentions of both Freya and her sister Ravenna (Charlize Theron).
This movie was pulled out from theatres because the studios looked at the Box Office Numbers and gave up on it that includes marketing. Now they are going to take it to bring it to VOD and DVD to get their money back.
