Love Letters directed by Adam Reeves was at The New Rheem Theatre on Sunday, October 9th in Moraga, California. Both Tony Dow as Andrew “Andy” Makepeace Lad the 3rd and Beverly Washburn as Melissa Gardner were on stage in a live production having two tables next to each other as they write extensive letters in describing their devoted relationship to each other. I thought these letters were more of therapy letters than love letters. Andy and Melissa were describing in their letters to each other how much they enjoyed their family and friends. In these letters it seemed to me there was a lot of digressing and it should have been more character(s) development by bringing in more people and to put this out into a movie. This Live Production had great lightning and the sound design in the theatre was muffled.
There was a Q&A afterwards and I asked Tony and Beverly what they thought of their roles on how they did and they both deflected it back to me. It’s interesting this is Tony Dow fourth appearance in Love Letters and Beverly Washburn 1st appearance. There was an autograph and picture session afterwards and than when I went on stage I asked both of them if they had any pets like dogs and cats. Beverly mentioned she had three to four dogs and one of them past away she also has a few cats. Tony mentioned he has two turtles. Beverly Washburn mentioned in her movie of Old Yeller the dog was a rescue dog.
